Pt.6 Pamoja Youth Foundation Street Festival Dance Troupe..."Action For Life"...Kibera plus other Hip Hop Dancers Life in Kibera Slum, the Largest in all of Africa! In July of '09 Pamoja Youth Foundation Organized a community Music/Art Festival in Kibera. It featured local talent from Kibera, Africa's largest and one of the worst slums. Regardless of the conditions of the place, there are amazingly talented young people. This festival proved [once again...] that Kibera has very bright and creative artists in many fields including Rap, Hip Hop, Reggae, Dance, Spoken Word/Poetry, MC Skills, and organizational abilities as well. With a very limited budget, Pamoja regularly hosts these amazing and wonderful events. It is a true testament to the character and resiliency of the absolutely amazing people of Kibera and of Kenya and Africa in general. This video is part of a series from the festival. It was a wonderful day to come together and enjoy each other's company and music and art. Thank you to all who participated and helped to make this happen and to the on-going efforts of Pamoja Youth Foundation and many other community organizations in Kibera. The whole world has so much to learn from Kibera. What a wonderful and amazing place it truly is. We all have problems, but in Kibera, nothing will stop the spirit of the people. Nothing! Muslim Aid - Action Call to Eradicate Malaria
Muslim Aid - Action Call to Eradicate Malaria
Joining the global community in commemorating World Malaria Day on 25 April 2011, Muslim Aid called on the international community to take concrete steps toward the complete and effective eradication of malaria, including its causes with better hygiene and preventive measures and improving the living conditions of people most affected by this potentially fatal disease. Noting the grim statistics issued by the World Health Organisation on malaria, a spokesperson for Muslim Aid said: "In an age of free flow of information and cutting edge technology, it is a great irony that every 45 seconds a child dies from malaria, while half a billion people in 106 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America are infected by malarial parasites. Surely more work is required to be done by governments and the health industry to eradicate this deadly disease from the world." "On this day, Muslim Aid urges the pharmaceutical industry to spend more resources on research and development into malaria and donate the latest generation of anti-malarial drugs as grants in kind to established health networks of NGOs such as Muslim Aid hospitals and clinics around the world to treat rural populations suffering from malaria in many countries." Muslim Aid is committed to reducing the threat of malaria in the countries it works in, especially for the most vulnerable groups of people, namely old persons, pregnant women and children. Malaria among pregnant women contributes to low birth weight and infant ...

Japan - A Call for Action
Japan - A Call for Action
Technology has brought our global community closer together than it has ever been before. Each and every home with a computer becomes acutely aware of the ebb and flow of nations and people all over the world. Japan is the most "technologically wired" country and the world has been able to see the multiple tragedies unfold since the earthquake set everything motion Friday, March 11th. We want the people of Japan to be strong and to know that they are not alone; indeed, may this terrible sequence of events be the cross roads for a new era of global awareness and support. If you - the viewer have not already done so, please donate to your favorite support agency that will aid the Japanese in this time of desperation.

Action for Refugees in Turkey
Action for Refugees in Turkey
In view of the recent earthquake in Turkey, we have taken on the initiative to arrange a Fundraising Event for the aid and rehabilitation of the Refugees in Turkey. Adequate post-earthquake relief is simply not reaching the refugees, as they are low on the countries priority list, and they are forced to spend night after night in freezing temperatures, hungry, in shock, fear, and grief. Many lives were lost and many more shattered by the devastation this earthquake has left behind. We will be holding an "Organic Gourmet Chocolate Sale" (home-made from scratch) on Sunday, October 30th at the Vancouver Public Library. The event will take place from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. All proceeds will go directly to the refugees in Turkey. The Iranian community and the people of Vancouver have always been a great supporter of our various activities and we once again look forward to your support. This event not only endeavors to provide desperate needed help for the victims of the earthquake, but also provide a ray of hope for the future. Please come down and support. You can contact us at vancouver4iran@gmail.com Sunday, October 30 · 12:00pm - 2:00pm Vancouver Public Library 350 West Georgia Street
